Pangkal Balam Port is located on Bangka Island in the province of Bangka-Belitung, serving an area rich in mining and agriculture. The main commodities here are tin, kaolin, quartz sand, granite, rubber, palm oil and pepper.

Starting out as a small harbor serving motorboats and sailboats, Pangkal Balam now boasts a 254-meter-long dock, a stacking yard of 6,320 square meters, a 400-square-meter passenger terminal and a 4,510-square-meter parking lot.
Other ports that fall under Pangkal Balam’s operations include Muntok Port at the north end of Bangka Island, which has a 52-meter dock, a passenger terminal and handles tin and pepper exports.

Another is Sungai Selan Port, further inland in southern Bangka and which has an 87-meter wooden dock; and Belinyuyang Port, with a 50-meter wooden dock.
