REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II (Persero) provides relaxation for container service fees. Pelindo II President Director Arif Suhartono said limited waivers were given for container service fees.
"This relaxation was given during the Covid-19 pandemic, to relieve service users, especially container owners or managers," Arif said in a written statement on Wednesday (6/24).
Arif explained, since mid-May 2020, Pelindo II had instructed all subsidiaries that manage the container terminal related to the relaxation. He ensured the relaxation would be valid until June 19, 2020.
He said the relaxation of container service costs is also a follow up to the demand of the business community who expect port service costs to be reduced during the pandemic. The policy, according to him, could also be a stimulus for logistical businesses to sustain their business.
"This is also the participation of Pelindo II in supporting government policies to relax for the sake of the sustainability of the business world," Arif said.
Meanwhile, General Manager of the Koja Container Terminal, Hudadi Soerja Djanegara said that tariff reductions had been imposed at the Koja Container Terminal for a while in the pandemic period. Huda said the relaxation was in the form of discounts on empty container services.
"Discounts can be given through a B to B agreement between the terminal and the owner or container manager, in this case, the shipping company," Hudadi said.
Hudadi added, currently limited waivers were also applied to empty container storage services. Also, the Koja TPK extended the payment period for loading and unloading services.
"Under normal circumstances, service users are required to make payments a maximum of eight working days after the invoice is received. With the Covid-19 pandemic, we provide a leeway, where payments can be made up to 14 working days, from the time they receive the bill, "Hudadi said.
